Construction on the reroute of Maguire Trail has begun. This is a full monty reroute with only about 5' of old trail to remain in use. At this time, you can still enter Maguire through the old entrance off of Bald Knob Ridge (when complete, the new entrance will be a few feet beyond the old entrance). As you start going down you will see a rerouting to the left. At that point you will begin riding the new rerouted sections. Please use caution when riding the reroute as the lower 3/4 of the reroute is rideable - but it is not by any means complete. There are still turns that need to be adjusted and sections that need to be tweaked. This new reroute is going to be very fun and flowy and will hopefully last for decades with little to no erosion problems. It really is awesome! Once the reroute is complete, the old sections of Maguire will be closed off completely to allow for regineration.
Sunday, October 30th, from 9am-5pm will mark the next NMBA Trail work day where we will again be utilizing community service workers. At that time, we will work towards completing both the Maguire reroutes and the New Laurel Run Trail reroutes. We will need to have as many NMBA members on hand as possible to keep the 30 community service workers on task. It is very important to have the expertise of our members when it comes to adjusting turns and tweaking the trail towards the specifications of mountain bikers.
Members of the Penn State Cycling team will also be on hand on Sunday, October 30th, to help with the completion of the reroutes.
DCNR will be providing NMBA with more hand tools so everyone should be able to keep busy.
Please note that you do not have to be present for the entire trail work day. If you can only volunteer some of your time, that is fine. If you are able to attend (for any period of time) please let either Terri (

Again, please use caution when riding the Maguire reroute and remember work still needs to be done on both the Maguire and the New Laurel Run reroutes to reach completion.
Thank you!
