Hunting dates for our Land management area. Not all of PA.

  • SQUIRRELS Special season for eligible junior hunters Oct. 11-17
  • SQUIRRELS Fall Season – Oct. 18-Nov. 29; Late Seasons – Dec. 15-23 and Dec. 26-Feb. 7
  • SQUIRRELS, VEHICULAR - Year round, not fit for mounting
  • RUFFED GROUSE: Oct. 18–Nov. 29, Dec. 15-23 and Dec. 26-Jan. 24
  • RABBIT (Cottontail): Oct. 25-Nov. 29, Dec. 15-23 and Dec. 26-Feb. 7 (4 daily, 8 possession).
  • PHEASANT: Special season for eligible junior hunters, Oct. 11-18
  • PHEASANT: Oct. 25-Nov. 29. Dec. 15-23 and Dec. 26-Feb. 7
  • HARES (SNOWSHOE RABBITS) OR VARYING HARES: Dec. 26–Jan. 1 (1 daily, 2 possession).
  • WILD TURKEY (Male or Female): Nov. 1-22;
  • BLACK BEAR (Bow and Arrow only): Nov. 19-20.
  • BLACK BEAR (Statewide): Nov. 24-26.
  • BLACK BEAR (WMUs 4C, 4D and 4E): Dec. 3-6.
  • BLACK BEAR ( Rockview State Correctional Institution): Dec. 1-6.
  • DEER, ARCHERY (Antlered and Antlerless) Statewide: Oct. 4-Nov. 15 and Dec. 26-Jan. 10.
  • DEER (Antlered and Antlerless): Dec. 1-13.
  • DEER, ANTLERLESS (Statewide): Oct. 23-25. Junior and Senior License Holders, Disabled Person Permit
  • DEER, ANTLERLESS MUZZLELOADER (Statewide): Oct. 18-25.
  • DEER, ANTLERED OR ANTLERLESS FLINTLOCK (Statewide): Dec. 26-Jan. 10.

Trail closures and Gasline expansion

Just got this from DCNR this morning...

Grading and earthmoving activities associated with the Dominion Pipeline’s Cove Point Expansion have gotten underway as of yesterday (16 July ). Please post the following trail closure’s and trail alerts on KTA’s website to alert hikers of the temporary inconvenience of the these activities. Signage is being posted in the field over the next few days.

The following are closed:

1. Long Mountain Trail between Thickhead Road and the pipeline
2. John Wert Path between Thickhead Road and the pipeline
3. McKinney Trail (off of the Crowfield Road)
4. Detweiler Run Road between Thickhead Road and the pipeline
5. Thickhead Mountain Road from Crowfield Road to Bechtol Road.
6. B.R. & S. Trail off of Barrville Road
7. Wertz Trail off of Coopers Gap Road
8. Shingle Path between the Mid-State Trail and Treaster Kettle Road

The following trails will be posted with signs alerting users to the construction activities. Trail crossings over the pipeline will be maintained during the construction activities.

1. Mid State Trail
2. Pigpile Trail
3. Sassafras Trail
4. Tussey Mountain Trail

The closures and alerts will remain in effect until further notice. Tentative timeline for reopening is early fall.

Maxxis MiMo CX Cyclocross Tire Review 700 by 35c

side_and_face_100 I got a cross bike last year and liked the stock Bonti Jones, except on wet grass.  After the rear Jones wore out I got a Maxxis MiMo CX.  About $36 retail and honestly sized at the listed 35.
