princess Re:No Tree Down on TMT - 2006/10/27 14:16 yeah, well...

when i was growing up on the farm, i would routinely have to find limbs and trees that fell on sap lines. at under 10 years of age, i wasn't allowed a chain saw, but i was trusted with a hatchet and later, an axe. scary thought, i know.

a limb, i was expected to be able to remove myself, either by moving or chopping through them. trees, i had to go get someone with a chain saw. by 14, i wouldn't bother running back to get anyone for a tree under a foot in dia. it would take me longer to go and come back than to just chop through it. ah, the boundless energy of youth, spurred on by the fear of the pipe!

the guys at rattling creek will tell stories of me going after a tree with a pulaski at times. they used to sharpen theirs after every trail day though, so it was a deal easier.

thanks though, hopefully that stays around a while. long enough for me to ride it anyway.
