Re:This year's W101 Course - 2011/06/23 10:50The Mid State Trail Association protested the use of Little Poe trail since it is listed as an official section of the MST.
I do not remember the numbers, but a portion of Little Poe is open to automobiles. If you eliminate the portion you can drive on, there was only about 0.5 mile trail section listed as Little Poe and the MST.

Re:This year's W101 Course - 2011/06/23 11:00It will be 103-104 miles like 2 years ago when they mis-marked the course. Awesome! More bang for the buck!

Re:This year's W101 Course - 2011/06/23 12:59Wow, I'm surprised to see that Telephone is included in the race given how washed out it is this year, particularly just below the intersection with Wallace.

Can anyone recommend an alternative? What is Ruff Gap like these days? I have not seen that trail since ~2003. What is Wallace like these days? One thing I just make the maps not the course choices.

Re:This year's W101 Course - 2011/06/27 09:58Ray, Ruff would need cut back first to see how if it could work. HO may have some insight on this trail. Dave Pontzer cut back Wallace recently and said it was in decent shape (his now cancelled race was to go up Wallace). If Wallace is included, can we call it the W105? I like your idea of a 150, or of one on a Sunday in the fall

Re:This year's W101 Course - 2011/06/27 13:48If Telephone is washed out, what's the condition of Sassafras trail down the back side of Milligan's Knob?
I haven't been on either in months, but the last time I was on Sassafras there were horseback riders coming up the steeper back side of Sassafras, and it only takes one horse loosening dirt followed by rain to completely wash out a trail.

Re:This year's W101 Course - 2011/06/27 15:35was on Sass descent Wed, wasn't as nice as the fall, but it was fine. A small saw, could be used to cut back a fallen limb or 2, i need to get on and carry it.

Re:This year's W101 Course - 2011/06/28 09:36We went down Wallace (or one of those trails) instead of Telephone in the W101 of 2007 or 2008. That year the course used Wallace instead of Telephone because Telephone was in bad shape. Wallace was really run. i don't know what it is like now.

Re:This year's W101 Course - 2011/06/28 22:02I think that was the year we took Deaf Run off Crowfield and then went Treaster Kettle to Bear Meadows. Due to the gas line work? Going down Wallace made up lost mileage but was a lot of fun. Going up Spencer was less fun.

Re:This year's W101 Course - 2011/06/29 09:38you are correct, make it the 105 and go down wallace, up spencer, OR could skip that descent, change aid station #3 location, go across broad, up bigelow, down pig pile, flat, sass x (or option if wet, cut out sassx, FOCG olive branch) or accross to indian prior to dropping into the moister section of sass x,

Re:This year's W101 Course - 2011/06/29 09:45OLIVE BRANCH to FOCG,trail rotation, thoughts on changing location of #3, skipping the descent to spencer, go across broad, up bigelow, down pig pile, flat, only sass x to gate, indian to cooper, beautiful, then normal course,..

Re:This year's W101 Course - 2011/07/05 13:22I finally rode down Telephone, it's a creek bed and in bad shape. I stuck mostly to the sides. A tree or two is down across it as well.
I'm not sure the trail is savable without a ton of work and a ton of appropriate water run offs.
