kevinb Rock Run trails - 2009/05/05 15:54 Theres a bunch of chainsaw worthy deadfall on the rock run trails. its actually clear into the mailbox and the "quadrant" to the left of the mailbox is clear to the junction. There is stuff on both sides of the rail grade that runs into tram road, as well as stuff all the way down the right hand side. to add to the fun, some horses had gone through, taking a right at the mailbox, screwed up some of the benchcut and beat the snot outta some of the short little climbs outta the spring seeps.

kevinb Re:Rock Run trails - 2009/05/18 15:32 nope, the trail head is on rt 504 aka rattlesnake pike, between Unionville and Black moshanon state park. Its a couple mile "balloon string" into a loop, all total the ride is about 12.5 miles, almost all trail, quite rocky. no big climbs but there is one moderate one at about the half way point. let me know if you want to tackle it and I can find a map for ya

Yoda Re:Rock Run trails - 2009/05/18 20:12 anyone wanna come along later this week to help out with clearing and riding Rock Run? I think we could use a club Stihl 250 and a Dakine Trailbuilder pack...oh and maybe some handtools for Yoda too.

frank Re:Rock Run trails - 2009/05/19 10:59 Funny, I happen to have a club Stihl 250 and a dakine builder pack in my posession.
Maybe your people should talk to my people and see if we can come up with some sort of arrangement.

I would like sign out a pulaski and rock rake as well. The HO is ending his trail maintenance abstinence. Watch out trails!

frank Re:Rock Run trails - 2009/05/19 11:28 I'll need to see a library card and proof of insurance before that can happen.

hodog Re:Rock Run trails - 2009/06/01 10:16 Rock run is mostly clear. There is a 3 tree fall on the railbed ascent. 2 other logs are challenging but at bad spots. Everything else is good & rideable. Please remember trails don't clear themselves - taking 20 seconds when you're already stopped to throw a few things off the trail really helps.
