kevinb Re:2009 Stoopid 50 ? - 2009/04/15 16:46 the issue is that Chris was unable to reserve the 4-H camp for that weekend so he is working on alternate starting points. As of last week he still had not settled on anything but Im quite confident that it will happen

hodog Re:2009 Stoopid 50 ? - 2009/04/15 16:51 I haven't heard anything about cancellation just a possible start location change to Greenwood Furnace. Maybe there will be an update at next weeks meeting.

Raymo853 Re:2009 Stoopid 50 ? - 2009/05/26 09:39 So it does sound like the S50 will be happening. There is a proposed course for the SCE area but it may be held elsewhere as discussed on another thread:

Raymo853 Re:2009 Stoopid 50 ? - 2009/05/26 09:39 Here is the proposed course:
Start at tussey, up to 3B, full longberger, tuxedo, ridge, extension, John Wert.
Bear Meadows & Stone Creek road the whole way to shale pit where the Aid Station will be.
Wertz trail, Climb Brush Ridge to Chestunt Spring spur and Chestnut to the Coopers Gap Road.
Full Shittakka, Coopers Gap Rd, Chicken Peter, down Bear Gap Tr, right onto Lingle Valley, up Indian, short section on Brush Ridge, over to Stone Creek Road, through Penn Roos Park
Up Thickhead, down Detweiler, up Gettis Ridge Road, down Bear Meadows and finish there.

Mumbles has floated two changes. 1. Instead of flying down Bear Meadows the whole way to Stone Creek, go over Wampler and Gettis Ridge and then back Beidleheimer. 2. After Shittakaa, ride Sand Hole Ext, climb/hike up Sand Hole and then ride Beautiful to Chicken Peter.

erik Re:2009 Stoopid 50 ? - 2009/05/30 17:45 The course as of 5-30. We rode it Saturday morning. about 6 hours rolling time. Its about 2 miles longer than the actual course since we rode down to Laurel run from Bear Meadows parking area. Like 7000 ft of climbing... check out the link below

jmblg any new info on the stoopid? - 2009/06/01 21:14 we were at Iron Hill (Newark DE) this weekend and there was a lot of interest and riders talking about doing the stoopid. Tonight I heard THE endurance rider who has yet to ride the stoopid is planning on coming.

PeterEvolves Email from Chris Scott - 2009/06/02 13:38 I emailed Chris Scott. He wrote back the following:

hey amigo,
some major modifications as you know
just got forestry to approve the route
have not signed an agreement with Tussey yet to let us use their parking lot-pavilion
was hoping to use Akiens Cabins as camping host
spoke with her friday night
she was supposed to call back with an answer this weekend and has not

the way it looks - the cool camping dealio we have had in the past probably won't happen

hopefully the event will still happen
many people have emailed hoping that it will
---
I am assuming it is happening.

Demon of the Fall Re:2009 Stoopid 50 ? - 2009/06/02 15:03 Tonight I heard THE endurance rider who has yet to ride the stoopid is planning on coming.

Thanks Jim for the recognition. As right now I am still undecided on the Stoopid 50. I'm sitting back pensively watching the drama unfold. I hope the race goes off but there are still so many questions up in the air and answers that have not yet sprouted from the soil of confusion. We need a rainstorm of reason, some sunshine of hope, and some good old fashioned elbow grease to reap the healthy benefits of this race event.

I have not been laying back lazily however. I am still dutifully training as hard as I always do, Stoopid 50 or not.

Therefore the Stoopid 50 will a gametime decision for me. Right now I cannot promise that I am planning on racing. But, I don't want to let my fans down. Race or not, I will be available to sign autographs for a small fee and available for photographs for an additional fee. No cameras or cell phones will be allowed in the autograph tent! I will be bringing my own personal photographer. The autograph session will begin at 3 PM on Sunday, June 14. The gate to the autograph tent opens at 9 AM. Wristbands can be purchased at all of my sponsors locations.

Thank you for your support.
