You guys missed a great ride. Yes we had snow on top of the "Knob", but it was fun riding the snowy rocks. I kept getting my pedals frozen up with snow and leafs in the begining area of race course (section below main lodge). We had about 14 riders and two were ladies.
I rode with brenda, because mike had to show darius how to climb (He brought a guy from VA up to ride his 29" IF singlespeed). The climb easier in winter, since your not over heating. Roller coaster trail was blast both ways, plus rocks trail was great. The lookout was easy as well.
Only mechanic we had was brenda Blur derailer hanger got bent (I told her I bent mine 3 times and haven't did it sent getting a YETI). Mike had a spare one in brenda bag and changed it in under 2 minutes, but spent 10 minutes getting the wheel on (stupid SRAM derailer).
We rode about until a little after 3pm and started around 10:15am. Once we got to bottom it was in 50's their, but being in the woods kept the wind at bay. The wind wasn't much a factor and yes you need some good socks (I had goretex socks for wet spots). Clark brought his 4 leg friend.
I think Darius (president of MBM) said he's planning on coming up to Raystown trail work sunday. He said something about riding Greenwood saturday. Did he get a hold of you guys?
I met Darius "baby brother" (over 240 for weight and tall) who lives up state college. He got a specialize xl stump jumper demo from "The bicycle shop" up your area (lime green). He had troubles riding it since he just came from a hardtail.
Mike Mucker was being easy on us since it was cold, but everyone had a blast. I was glad I went and got another ride their, since I don't to ride up homestead much.
