Demon of the Fall Re:No Tree Down on TMT - 2006/10/25 20:59 Yay! I think I might have to dust the mountain bike off and pull it out of the shed (aka Shelob's lair) one last time before it is retired for the season. I love to break bikes, I mean ride rock and log ramps. Good job Princess. I might have to check out your work this weekend if the weather is perfectly agreeable with me and I don't have a raquetball game scheduled.

princess Re:No Tree Down on TMT - 2006/10/25 22:13 well, it looks like tomorrow might be it for me. i'm gonna try and maybe sneak one more in, but just working today aggrivated my joints pretty badly. hopefully i'll get to the doc's soon.

Raymo853 Re:No Tree Down on TMT - 2006/10/26 07:38 We went by the work twice last night. On the firs tpass I though the ramp too crowded the trail, however, on the way back I was watching for it and never saw it. Conclusion, it does not crowd the trail and is fine as is. No opinion on how stable/ridable the ramp is itself.

kevinb Re:No Tree Down on TMT - 2006/10/27 08:49 i made it first time from kettle last nite, going the other way is a bit more difficult, a little tougher line at it but is definitely makable and the line around it is quite clean. thanks for the great work don!
I still cant believe you hacked it apart with pulaski though, lol

princess Re:No Tree Down on TMT - 2006/10/27 14:16 yeah, well...

when i was growing up on the farm, i would routinely have to find limbs and trees that fell on sap lines. at under 10 years of age, i wasn't allowed a chain saw, but i was trusted with a hatchet and later, an axe. scary thought, i know.

a limb, i was expected to be able to remove myself, either by moving or chopping through them. trees, i had to go get someone with a chain saw. by 14, i wouldn't bother running back to get anyone for a tree under a foot in dia. it would take me longer to go and come back than to just chop through it. ah, the boundless energy of youth, spurred on by the fear of the pipe!

the guys at rattling creek will tell stories of me going after a tree with a pulaski at times. they used to sharpen theirs after every trail day though, so it was a deal easier.

thanks though, hopefully that stays around a while. long enough for me to ride it anyway.
