Scott C Re:Stoopid 50 Trails - 2008/05/29 12:44 Telephone has a number of downed trees big enough to require a chainsaw; both above and below the intersection with Wallace.

Lower sass has a double trunk tree about midway between the lower end at Rag Hollow road and the pipeline.

Allen Re:Stoopid 50 Trails - 2008/05/31 16:44 I got Sass cleared and pig Pile cleared to the gas line. Going to try and get Telephone and Wallace. Frank lent me his bob trailer. It works great saves a lot of walking time. Doing a pre-ride the off the coarse tomorrow so I’ll let you know.

Jim G Re:Stoopid 50 Trails - 2008/06/01 19:39 There's a small blow down on Brush Ridge after the new bench, just up from Pennypacker camp. It could be removed with a pack saw, or by two riders. I got part of it out but not all of it. There's been some horse riding on the new bench, which isn't doing the trail any good.

The log on upper Telephone is about a foot in diameter. The other two logs are below the Wallace turn off. One of them is a large blow down, sitting about two feet off the ground. The other is small but sitting off the ground a fair amount.

Telephone is in horrible condition, probably the worst I've ever seen it. Lots of erosion, loose rocks, scree buildup, ruts. The exit at Spencer is terrible.

Allen Re:Stoopid 50 Trails - 2008/06/02 06:23 Lingle has two tress down.
Telephone has one at the top.
Wallace has three or four and is all washed out.
Chestnut springs X has a couple on it and if you don't know the trail it's hard to follow. The gas lines also aren't cleared.

hodog Re:Stoopid 50 Trails - 2008/06/02 09:18 Thanks, guys! Lingle was a mess with the 2 tree blowdown. It isn't an easy clear. Chesnut X needs a raking or 20 riders. It is very hard to follow. If this trail is going to used, we'll need to give it some serious love. Anyone free some evening this week to help?

SteveF Re:Stoopid 50 Trails - 2008/06/03 16:44 I was on Upper Sassafras on May 24th and there were 2 or 3 dead falls that needed to be addressed.

hodog Re:sassafras ok - 2008/06/08 21:05 Allen (mostly) and I cleared Lingle. I cut out all the stuff on Chesnut X and improved the gas line crossing. For the upper crossing you turn right (downhill) where the existing trail is blocked and cross below the existing crossing. I built a crappy rock ramp on the only log you have to ride over. The lower crossing is still get-off-your-bike-and-walk-across-big-log but it is sooo easy. Somebody ride this and see if its ok.

RothRocks Re:sassafras ok - 2008/06/10 14:01 I was on Telephone the other day and there were two down. The first will most likely require a chain saw the second just a bow saw and some elbow grease. I also noticed that the trail was very rutted in some spots due to run off.

Allen Re:Stoopid 50 Trails - 2008/06/10 18:17 Were they before or after Wallace?
When did you ride that?

Jim G Re:Stoopid 50 Trails - 2008/06/10 18:42 Those two sound like the two logs below the Wallace turnoff.
