hodog Shingletown trailwork sunday - 2008/04/17 16:20 What needs done in Shingletown? I can do something on Friday. Sunday I'll probably be out of town or very hungover.

kevinb Re:Shingletown trailwork sunday - 2008/04/17 16:37 from what i rode of shingletown last week, from a deadfall point of view its in really good shape. Frank was talking about moving the work over to coopers gap but I don't think that has been finalized. With all the switching roles over at forestry its been difficult to get the proper permission for what we had planned to work on in shingletown this weekend. So stay tuned.

kevinb Re:Shingletown trailwork sunday - 2008/04/17 16:39 if youre really itchin to do something, you could park somewhere near the bog at bearmeadows and take your chainsaw across the missing bridge and get that big one on john wert, then take the packsaw down and get the other two down there. or just give your shoulder a break and dont do anything so you can actually ride a mtn bike again.

frank Re:Shingletown trailwork sunday - 2008/04/17 19:40 From what I have heard, there are several on Charcoal flats and two on Sand Spring. But don't get all cowboy on us and take them out before the work day. I was also planning to do some short re-routes on Sand Spring, moving the trail on to the several Charcoal flats it skirts to give you a break as you climb. That will also help cut down on some of the really loose sections.
A little birdy told me that the coopers gap reroutes have been completed as well as a major construction project on Brush Ridge in the middle. There are a couple of trees on Brush ridge just past our re route, you could get those.

kevinb Re:Shingletown trailwork sunday - 2008/04/18 09:03 as far as charcoal flats goes, we rode it from where maguire comes up and hits it down to the end, following the upper trail at the fork and if memory serves me correct, it was all clear, save the big one near the end that actually has a nice route around it now. We rode up clemons to bald knob so I cant say whats up with sand spring.

there has also been some work done on brush ridge

frank Re:Shingletown trailwork sunday - 2008/04/20 20:44 So eight of us braved the less than ideal conditions to do some work on Sand Spring. We did a short re route to avoid the upper steep washed out bit and scouted out a reroute for the middle, longer washed out bit. If the weather had been nicer, we probably would have been able to do that as well, but sub 60 and dumping is not exactly fun for hanging out in the woods.
