mattd Ridge - 2008/01/07 16:46 Has these always been a side trail that leads from about 1/3 mile from the gasline on the ridge to the camptrail?

It seems like it has been there for a while. It just needs some brush cut back.

princess Re:Ridge - 2008/01/07 22:06 i've never been aware of this trail, matt. i've no idea when it may have come about. i'm sure someone on here will have seen it. probably that kberg guy, he's so good anymore, he doesn't need to look at the rocks in front of him.

frank Re:Ridge - 2008/01/10 14:52 Actually, if its the trail that I am thinking of, it has been there since before the gasline. It roughly follows the forestry border from the ridge down and probably connected to the road bed that is camp trail. A few years ago Sam Mcconnehy had stacked a rock cairn on the ridge where the trail went down, but other than that it was pretty obscure. Unfortunately, Maptech's site is down because I am pretty sure the trail was on the old USGS quads.
This is actually a trail that I figured we could open if and when the gas line expansion happened to make it possible to still ride TMT. But then of course someone had to go and fly off the handle, but thats another thread.

mattd Re:Ridge - 2008/01/10 17:33 The trail is there..it would just need to be trimmed.

frank Re:Ridge - 2008/01/11 12:12 Does it require a power tool trim or could it be done with hand tools fairly easily? I guess the question would be, is it Laurel or Huckleberry? Laurel can usually be managed with hand tools, but Huckleberry sucks to do with anything other than the sickle bar.

mattd Re:Ridge - 2008/01/11 15:52 It would be a combination of all of the above. Some sections have small trees down, a few places crash through laurel and most of it has had at least some huckleberry start to grow on the trail or just off the edge.

frank Re:Ridge - 2008/01/16 21:30 Since MAptech is back up, check out the lower left corner of this quad from 1929. Pretty neat eh?
