kevinb Re:Raystown Trailwork - 2007/11/13 11:24 would it make sense to all meet at the shop and figure out the best carpool situation from there?

frank Re:Raystown Trailwork - 2007/11/13 11:35 I can be at the shop at 8:15. The trip takes exactly an hour, although I am not sure it makes sense for you to come into town, Kevin. If you went through Spruce Creek and then down 22 to Huntingdon, that is probably significantly faster for you.
On a side note, Clark is trying to get a final count for food on Sunday, so if folks can finalize there plans and post it here by the end of wednesday, I'll pass along the list.

Matt D (possibly)

Demon of the Fall Re:Raystown Trailwork - 2007/11/13 12:41 Yes, I plan to go and I'd like to carpool. I'm not riding afterwards because mountain bike season is over and it is officially raquetball season.

frank Re:Raystown Trailwork - 2007/11/13 15:43 Brian, will you be dragging Josh along? Or is he too big to drag?
And Aaron, does it count as Mountain bike season if you're out of the county? At least its still beer drinking season.

mattd Re:Raystown Trailwork - 2007/11/13 20:01 Are there going to be other days to help out? I'd like to lend a hand but it is looking like I can't make it on Sunday.

frank Re:Raystown Trailwork - 2007/11/13 20:28 Yes, there will other days in the spring most likely. This project is fairly ambitious and heavily reliant on volunteers. So far, the volunteers have been doing mostly the finish work on the trails, but that is changing, and from now until spring the focus is going to be on getting the corridor in front of the machines cleared so that the machines can move faster. That will be the main focus of this Sunday.

Yoda Re:Raystown Trailwork - 2007/11/14 18:51 Count me out, if I happen to make it I'll bring my own lunch.

frank Re:Raystown Trailwork - 2007/11/15 10:18 I talked to Jim last night and he wanted me to remind folks to bring bikes to try out the trails. They won't quite have the loop done that they are working on currently, but what is done is apparently a ripping fast downhill. The draw back you'll have to turn around and climb out.
So now we just have to hope it all dries out.

hodog Re:Raystown Trailwork - 2007/11/19 16:40 We had around 2 dozen people attend the trailwork on a damp, cold day. This turnout was awesome! I also had the chance to hike part of a finished trail that had some grade reversals and water bars where 'your tires may happen to leave the ground'...Good stuff is growing in Raystown!

scarcollector Re:Raystown Trailwork - 2007/11/20 18:00 Well, I'm sorry I bailed. I have to admit that the weather had me doubting the trail building excursion but mostly it was the need to get my gear together for an early Monday departure for an AZ. hiking trip. Yeah, I could have prepared Saturday but... I swear on the... that I'll be there next time.
Just got back from a day trip to Nogales, Mexico. Interesting. Later this week we'll be camping along the Colorado River. I wish I had a bike with me, for now I'll dream about trail riding while I hike with a heavy pack.
