hrm bear meadows rd. downhill bypass - 2007/05/30 19:55 too bad the mid-state stole the old seeger trail, otherwise there'd be a nice trail downhill. i found an alternative, but haven't had a chance to scout one area that would make it just as good as the mst, as an option. the green (on the map) is where i'd like to find a trail -- or just put one in. the blue is the route that's already there.

hrm Re:bear meadows rd. downhill bypass - 2007/06/04 17:54 i forgot to mention before:
if you're looking for it, it's easiest to find this trail:

1) at the very bottom at ukulele spring. this is where i first saw it. the camp access rd. is just across from it. it's quite clear here.

2) if you're walking seeger trail, it's also rather evident.

3) if you're coming down bear meadows road, that wee bit past the wampler turn/switchback you'll see a stump (it's one of three or so on this section or road). just before that stump you can find the trail going down the mountain. if you look across the road you'll see a bunch of briars -- the trail heads up from there.

x) it's not particularly evident from the top. although, i somehow marked it as a spot to explore (with my gps) in the winter, so perhaps it's more obvious in the snow. ... i had forgotten about it until i came out the other end.
