nabilkamal Current Deadfalls - 2008/10/08 16:41 All this talk of trees down has motivated me. I'm off work on Friday and want to go cut out some of them. I'd like a current list. Here's what I know, or at least think is currently down:

1. Ridge Trail near Kettle going up Kettle make a left on the ridge a it's little way down.

2. Upper Longberger at the intersection of Kettle

3. A big one down in the middle of Shingletown trail.

Please feel free to add to this list.

Thanks,

Nabil

frank Re:Current Deadfalls - 2008/10/08 18:54 I am pretty sure I took care of the one on the ridge on Saturday, unless there is a new one.

nabilkamal Re:Current Deadfalls - 2008/10/08 21:21 What about that one on camp trail that wasn't down but was leaning at a 45 degree angle across the trail and you had to duck under it. Is that still there?

kevinb Re:Current Deadfalls - 2008/10/09 06:59 yea it still is.

mcmbike Re:Current Deadfalls - 2008/10/09 18:59 There's also one down on Croyle. Maybe a little less than halfway down. It's at a bad spot after a turn and could be dangerous.

nabilkamal Re:Current Deadfalls - 2008/10/10 09:17 I cut out the big tree at the intersection of Upper Lonberger and Kettle yesterday before the beginner ride. I also cut out some others going back to N. Meadows Road and did general cleaning and clearing. Upper Lonberger is good to go!

We rode the ridge yesterday. Thanks to Frank for cutting out that big tree near Kettle.

Demon of the Fall Re:Current Deadfalls - 2008/10/10 09:21 Thank you to the Specialized-riding, Texas alum, pole vaulting photographer that removed the deadfall on Upper Longberger at the Kettle trail intersection yesterday.

hodog Re:Current Deadfalls - 2008/10/10 09:27 Cool, Thanks Nabil!

How big is the one on Croyle? Can it be taken out with pack saw?

mcmbike Re:Current Deadfalls - 2008/10/10 16:02 It's probably between 6 and 8 inches in diameter. A packsaw should work fine

nabilkamal Re:Current Deadfalls - 2008/10/10 19:18 They're all gone! I spent the entire day in the forest and what a beautiful day to do it. I started in Shingletown, then Camp Trail, and then Croyle. I got all the major deadfalls and did a lot of general maintenance and trimming along the way to the big stuff. A awesome day and the trails look great. They're ready for everyone to enjoy this weekend.
