frank Re:Go ride the Bald Knob Ridge Downhill... - 2008/09/26 17:24 It depends. Reroutes are easier than "new" trails. The big thing is to think about it in terms of resource management. Just because it seems like a good idea to go from point a to point b is not really enough to justify approval. Trails that will mitigate issues (trail erosion, user conflict) score better.
For an example, it will probably be easier to get a trail on the south side of the road considered than the north side. The forestry boundaries are notoriously ill defined and likely to be moved. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to show horn a trail in between the road and private property. proposing it as an replacement for the part of laurel run that drops straight to the road after the rock garden to make a nice loop.
