Yoda Shingletown - 2008/01/15 16:20 For the first time since knee surgery I hiked Shingletown to test my limits, all is resonably well with the knee but the trails need a little help. Plenty of tire tracks in the mud and snow and several new falls as well. Lower has at least four new ones and Charcoal, which may or may not be a concern has a few as well.

Yoda Re:Shingletown - 2008/01/15 16:22 by the way I do know how to spell "Reasonably" it just escaped my IPA clouded mind.

Yoda Re:Shingletown - 2008/01/15 17:14 Yeah, I picked up a case of Hop Wallop on the way home from Shingletown. I got home at about 4pm and by 4:30 had a pretty good buzz working. Amazing what one beer can do on an empty stomach.

scarcollector Re:Shingletown - 2008/01/15 20:46 Happy to hear about the buzz but not about the knee injury. It sounds like your healing and I hope the rest goes well. Hope to see you on a bike soon.

kevinb Re:Shingletown - 2008/01/16 09:43 hmm, Hop Wallop, this is a new name to me.
other than it sounds like it has a reasonable alcohol content, any other review and where ya got it?

mattd Re:Shingletown - 2008/01/16 10:39 I wouldn't dare to put Hop Wallop in the IPA category...maybe the IPA on crack category. But if you really like hoppy beers, this is certainly the way to go.

hodog Re:Shingletown - 2008/01/16 12:11 Knee surgery and you hiked Charcoal flats? Are you sure you didn't have a few Barley Pops before the hike...anywho if you are there again check out the section of Sand Spring between Lower and the Charcoal flats. I would like to reclaim it for biking. There is huge log that has squashed the existing trail.

Yoda Re:Shingletown - 2008/01/16 17:44 Hop Wallop is a Victory brew and yeah it's pretty much hops on steroids, in both flavor and alc./vol. where it stands at a walloping 8.5%. It's very simular to Double D.

Ho-I was going to check out that trail but it looked like there was more snow up the mountain. I didn't want to slide around anymore than nessesary. Next time I certainly will check it out.

frank Re:Shingletown - 2008/02/04 23:53 I took out all the blow downs between the bridge and reservoir on Lower trail on Sunday. Damn that place was an ice rink. I also started scouting out Ho's trail (which will probably have to be renamed Hoser trail, or maybe Cougar) past Maguire and it looks like it could be opened pretty easily this spring. I am meeting with the new forester in charge of trail stuff next week and hopefully I will get this one to fly.

hodog Re:Shingletown - 2008/02/05 15:21 Good work, Frank. At least one of those deadfall was pretty big. Did you take out the 'leaning' tree? That one is huge!
I hope Forestry allows it. The trail looked promising when I bushwhacked it. It could add some interesting loop possibilities. Namely riding bald knob ridge toward Sand Spring. Oi!!!
