EndosRFun Upcoming Hunting Seasons - 2009/09/24 13:45 Let me first apologize for bringing up this topic this far in advance as it means an end to most folks riding season. However, I have a scheduled camping weekend in November (in between all the bear hunting seasons but small game will still be going on.) I know to stay off the trails during hunting seasons but was wondering if riding fire roads would still be acceptable. Particularly Thickhead and Detweiler.

Demon of the Fall Re:Upcoming Hunting Seasons - 2009/09/24 15:00 The big rifle deer season always starts Monday after Thanksgiving and goes for 2 weeks. This year it will start November 30.

Bear season is the 3 days before Thanksgiving, Nov. 23-25.

Archery starts the first weekend of October. Oct. 3-Nov. 17

Early muzzleloader deer season is Oct. 17-24. The last 3 days of that week is when juniors, seniors, handicapped, and military can use rifles for deer. Antlerless only.

This link has all of the hunting seasons in PA. We are in WMU 4D.

Please note that fall turkey season is Oct. 31-Nov. 21. The people that own the property on which the Camp Trail is located have requested that no one rides that trail during turkey season. I assume that will be the same this season. In the past the club has posted signs on camp road and Tussey Mountain trail to stay off Camp Trail during turkey season. We are grateful to the landowner to allow us to use this trail across their private property and we will respect their request to not disturb them during turkey season.

kevinb Re:Upcoming Hunting Seasons - 2009/09/24 15:42 technically as long as you are on State Forest Land it not illegal to ride anytime. That being said, it is extremely advisable as was mentioned to not be on trails and probably not in the woods at all during bear and dear rifle season, although turkey season can be a bit dangerous too. I would avoid riding too early in the day during turkey season. Again not required by law, but it is smart to wear a blaze orange safety vest during hunting season, they are cheap and available at wally world etc. Again this applies to State Forest land like Rothrock and Bald Eagle. This probably deserves its own post, but it is illegal and bikers have been fined for riding in State Gamelands during hunting season, like scotia.
