frank Black Mo and Raystown trailwork days! - 2008/08/29 21:08 Hey folks, there are a couple of trail work days coming up that would be great to get people out for. Both will be followed by rides for those interested, so come on out!
Sept 21st - Meet at the Beach parking area at Black Mo State Park at 9:30am. Wear pants and work shoes and be sure to bring water. Tools and gloves will be provided.
Sept 28th - The plan is to meet at 9:30 at the Susquehannanock Campground, directions will be posted later. If you haven't heard about this project, it is a brand new 32 mile trail system that is unlike anything else in the area (actually, its the longest built for mountain bikes trail system in the east!). Definately bring your bike to this one. Lunch will be provided, so we will need to get a head count the week before. email cafisher@atlanticbb.net to confirm and tell him you are coming from NMBA. Same dress code and supplies as the week before.

frank Re:Black Mo and Raystown trailwork days! - 2008/09/19 20:27 Bumpity bump.
Both these dates are coming up. I just got back from Raystown and the sections that we didn't get to ride this summer are now finished (pretty much) and riding awesome!
And just to put the bug in everyone's chamois again, it is really important that we get a large turnout from the mountain bike community for this. The Corps is looking for buy in, and sweat equity is what the ante is. They have set a date of May 9th, 2009 as the grand opening, but if there isn't a big push from volunteer work days, they will only open the sections that are totally finished.

frank Re:Black Mo and Raystown trailwork days! - 2008/09/22 13:56 We had an OK, but not spectacular turnout at Black Mo yesterday. Bonus points go to Brian Fultz for going the extra mile on the finish work.
The good news was that the park is opening Star Mill trail to bikes (between Julian Pike and the lake) and has plans to build a few more trails as well. The ski slope trail will make for a nice "advanced beginner" level trail right from the beach.
Thanks to everyone who came out and hopefully we can get better participation in the future.

Jim G Re:Black Mo and Raystown trailwork days! - 2008/09/22 21:19 At least we had pizza, water and soda delivered to us on trail.

I'll email a few pics to Rodney to post on the photo section.

Demon of the Fall Re:Black Mo and Raystown trailwork days! - 2008/09/23 10:08 After the trail work; Rodney, Brian, and I performed the always difficult task of "field testing" the new Ski Slope Trail. This final step is always the hardest part of a trail work day. The 3 of us volunteered to go the extra miles to insure ride quality on the trail.

The trail is about 2.4 miles long. We rode it in both directions and it is great. It is still a little rough in spots, but some more finishing work and more riding will improve the quality. The trail is laid out so that it is good to ride in either direction. Climbing and descending is fun in both directions.
