Volunteers - Nittany Valley Half Marathon
Written by Terri Rudy
Monday, 28 November 2011

This Sunday, December 4th, NMBA is going to volunteer at the last aid station of the Nittany Valley Half Marathon.  I thought this would be a great way to support another user group as I am sure there are many runners participating in this event who also trail run on the trails that NMBA helps to build and maintain.

We will be stationed off of Puddintown Road, in Houserville, near Spring Creek Park.  If you'd like to help volunteer, please let me know as soon as possible along with what size of TShirt you would like.  The first runner is projected to come through around 11am, so please try to be there by 10:45am.  I don't anticipate being there more than two hours.  We will be handing out cups of water and gatorade.

Mary Dean suggested a Christmas theme, so I am going to download some Christmas music and bring some Santa hats and Reindeer antlers for us to wear (if you want).

If you have any questions, let me know.  If you're participating, good luck!

If you ordered an NMBA Jersey, they're in, and WOW are they fantastic! They look great and the fabric is nice and light! We're going to look so awesome on the trails! They will be available for pick up at the next NMBA Membership Meeting, on December 12th, or E-MAIL me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you'd like to see if we could work out a pick up/drop off time.

Penns Valley Gear Swap Sale & Fundraiser - November 13th
Written by Terri Rudy
Sunday, 30 October 2011

NMBA is pleased to announce their participation in the Penns Valley Gear Swap Sale & Fundraiser, to be held on Sunday, November 13, 2011, from noon to 4pm, at 105 E. Main Street, Millheim, PA.

The goal of the gear swap is to be an annual fundraiser for the Penns Valley Conservation Association http://www.pennsvalley.net/cms/ and to help promote other outdoor-based organizations and businesses in the Centre County region.

NMBA is currently looking for DONATIONS of items to sell at the Gear Swap.  The following is a list of suggested items to donate:  bicycles of all sorts, bicycle parts of all sorts, bike trailers, car carriers, jerseys, hi-tech clothing, unused water bottles, shoes that still have many years of life, and pretty much anything you would find in a bike shop.   Other non-bicycle related items that may be donated are camping gear, skiing gear, hiking gear, backpacks, binoculars, telescopes, GPS and cameras.

25% of the proceeds generated from the Gear Swap will go to the Penns Valley Conservation Association, and the remaining 75% of the proceeds will go directly to NMBA.

Raid your closet, your basement, your garage and your shed to find items worth donating!  We ALL have bicycle clothing that is practically brand new that we just don’t wear for some reason; let’s clean out those drawers and donate them to a worthy cause!

When you’ve gathered your items that you wish to donate, please contact Terri to schedule pick up/drop off.  Items will be accepted up until November 11th.

Please help to make this fundraiser a successful event for the Penns Valley Conservation Association as well as NMBA!
